It’s undeniable—an air conditioner is a necessity in South Florida. If you know the telltale signs of a potential A/C issue, you can get it fixed before it becomes a major problem and you’re left in the heat.
Troubleshooting your A/C
- Watch your electricity bills. If your utility usage is significantly higher than normal, your A/C may be drawing more power to compensate for issues with the unit.
- Any leaking from the A/C is a major sign of trouble. The unit needs the proper amount of refrigerant to work properly and efficiently. These issues require servicing by a qualified HVAC technician.
- Check your air conditioner for dust, dirt and debris if it’s not cooling as much as it should be. When you keep it clean, parts such as air filters last longer, reducing the likelihood of an unexpected breakdown.
- A continually cycling A/C could be caused by an issue with the thermostat. Check the thermostat and move it back into place if you’re having issues with the unit.
